When a legend speaks, you listen

Tottenham are in Discussions with PSV Eindhoven over the winger who could be a January arrival at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Jose Mourinho.

Former man Rafael van der Vaart has backed Steven Bergwijn to succeed at the club if he finishes a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before deadline day.

The Lilywhites are in discussions with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven for the winger after he became available during the January transfer window. The participant even travelled to London to help move the deal together, but there was some confusion over if he had permission from his team to do so.

The winger has also been linked with a move to Leicester City, but it would appear that Tottenham are in the driving seat for the 22-year-old.

Bergwijn has nine senior caps for the Netherlands and will be looking to impress in the second half of the season so as to push for a spot in the squad for Euro 2020.

He’s played 29 matches in all competitions this season, scoring six goals and supplying 13 assists.

While Tottenham are largely on the watch for striking options during the window, Bergwijn’s addition could bring more creativity to Mourinho’s side.

In an attempt to get more info about the winger, Spurs fans turned to fellow Dutchman van der Vaart, who gave a glowing endorsement for his countryman.

“Should it really happen, I think that Bergwijn will surely be a terrific signing for Spurs,” he submitted on Twitter.”

“Obviously he’ll need to adjust to the PL speed and ambiance but his pace, strength, and technique will surely add something to the game.”
