Tottenham vs AC Milan – Betting Preview

With Antonio Conte back in charge, Tottenham Hotspur will host AC Milan in the second leg of their Champions League round-of-16 match on Wednesday night in an effort to erase a one-goal deficit.

The Rossoneri won the first leg 1-0 thanks to a goal from Brahim Diaz early in the game, but both teams are coming off of disappointing home losses going into the midweek meeting.

Tottenham Preview

Conte’s brief return to the bench couldn’t have gone worse for the Italian, whose team was humiliated 4-1 by Leicester City before Diaz’s goal in the seventh minute gave Milan a slim lead in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 match on February 14.

A flight back to his native country was timely for Conte, who had a miserable return to San Siro. Conte again passed the reins to Cristian Stellini to continue his recuperation from surgery, but the former Inter Milan manager is about to make his second comeback with his team in desperate need of motivation.

A silverware-starved Spurs team suffered another 1-0 away defeat in the Premier League, this time at Wolverhampton Wanderers, thanks to Adama Traore’s second-half winner, three days after exiting the FA Cup to lower-tier Sheffield United and losing in the fifth round for the fourth consecutive season.

AC Milan Preview

Milan is barely 90 minutes away from making it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time since the 2011–12 season after weathering a Tottenham storm thanks to Diaz’s swift response, but Stefano Pioli has yet to restore the Rossoneri to their former grandeur.

AC Milan won its second of four straight games across all competitions with the victory over Tottenham. They also kept clean sheets in victories in the Serie A over Torino, Monza, and Atalanta BC in February. But, a weekend trip to Artemio Franchi to play Fiorentina ended in defeat.

1×2 Betting Odds

Let’s begin analysing the 1×2 market

Spurs’ chances of winning the match will undoubtedly be enhanced by playing at home, but Conte will have a difficult time motivating his wasteful team following two demoralising domestic losses.

Nevertheless, Spurs to win at home stands @ 2.02. They are the favourites.

Milan’s recent string of underwhelming away performances may cause the Scudetto holders to exercise caution as well, with a rested Leao returning to a nearly fully fit squad, the Rossoneri can hold out for the draw that would guarantee their place in the last eight!

Milan’s odds of winning this one stands @ 4.30.

The market odds of stalemate stands @ 3.74.

Total goals over/under

Let’s check the over/under scenario

The odds that the total number of goals scored will be over 2.5, stands @ 2.09.

While the odds that the total number of goals will be under 2.5, stands @ 1.85.

In an effort to improve their performance, AC Milan has drastically changed their game in recent weeks, by concentrating on strong defensive play.

They have recently had success against clubs like Monza, Spurs, and Atalanta, and in each of those triumphs they have won by a slim margin, and each time, fewer than 2.5 goals were scored.

We anticipate Milan’s match with Tottenham to be equally as fiercely contested, and with the odds offered, betting on under 2.5 goals for the second straight game between the clubs wouldn’t be a bad choice to make!
