Tottenham Hotspur received a setback when Harry Kane was sold to Bayern Munich in the summer. They made a few recruits in the summer to fill in the gap. One of their biggest signings of the summer was James Maddison from relegated Leicester City. Maddison is known for his creativity and is one of the best creative midfielders in England.
The 26-year-old English midfielder has played over 150 English Premier League games and has a lot of experience in the top flight. The new manager, Ange Postecoglou, is known for his attacking plays. Spurs are unbeaten in the first three matches of the league, and here are the stats that show how Maddison’s creativity can fill the gap left by Kane’s departure.
James Maddison is creative and was involved in 19 goals in 2022–23 in the Premier League. The 26-year-old played 30 league games for the Foxes.
The Englishman passed the ball 33 times per 90 minutes in the previous season and had an 80.4% accuracy rate. These involved 2.5 passes to the penalty box and had a 50% accuracy rate. A total of 59 shot-assist opportunities were created by the player. He is exceptional with set-pieces, and this is what Spurs want from their new recruit.
This season, Maddison has already provided two assists, and that too in the first match of the Premier League season. His passing accuracy has also improved and is at 85.7%. He is getting more creative and already has 11 shot assists to his name. Most of these came from set pieces, and he will look to create more goals for his team.
